Described by CFMOTO as a “modern classic”, the new 700CL-X range reveals a new design direction from the Chinese brand. The styling mixes traditional elements – round headlights, exposed trellis frame, traditional leather seats – with modern styling cues in a similar vein to Honda’s latest CB1000R. Motivation comes from the newly-developed 692cc parallel twin engine producing 75hp and interestingly the manufacturer makes a point of how quick and simple it is to replace the air and oil filters for maintenance. It has an electronic throttle, cruise control and a rollover sensor to shut the engine off if the bike is tilted too far.
The CFMOTO 700CL-X comes in three variants – Heritage, Adventure and Sport – each of which has been accessorised to appeal to a different market sector, and many other possible configurations are possible. Prices for the UK market haven’t yet been confirmed.
