Aldbury Capital, an investment company owned by Simon and Claire Kennedy, has acquired Dorking-based specialist motorcycle parts manufacturer Venhill Engineering for an undisclosed sum.

Simon Kennedy has become Venhill managing director, taking over from Max and Lisa Adams, who have run the business for the past 20 years. Venhill’s former parent VCN is owned by Max Adams and Kenrick Parish, who bought the firm from the Ventress family in 2001.

Kennedy, who has wide experience running print media, telecoms and utilities operations, says that continuity is the “absolute main objective”. Operations manager Martin Bradfield and purchasing manager Dean Freeman remain in position. Max and Lisa Adams will stay on for a three-month handover period.

Venhill benefited from a surge in demand last year, as motorcyclists took advantage of extra time on their hands during lockdown to tackle restoration projects. Extra staff were recruited and shift-working was required to boost production.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Venhill,” says Kennedy. “The company has introduced a new product every day for the past thousand days. Looking ahead, my aim is to build on Max and Lisa’s legacy by investing in the technology, so that we stay dynamic and responsive to our customers’ needs.”
