A policeman involved in a "tactical contact" incident involving a fleeing alleged criminal is facing a charge of gross misconduct. As we reported in our Friday eletter, and on our website, eight cases involving 10 officers are under review so more charges may well follow.

According to a posting on Facebook, the police constable involved has been served with a "Notice for gross misconduct hearing to be held in public between 7 and 10 May.

It is alleged the PC "breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to use of force and duties and responsibilities".

It is alleged that whilst driving a marked police car, the officer "manoeuvred his vehicle into the path of a moped being driven by a 17-year-old male in order to stop it, causing a collision".

The hearing will take place at Empress State Building, and viewing is by video link to a dedicated room on the premises.

There's no sign of a petition in support of the police but if we hear of one, we'll let you know.
